Channtal Fleischfresser is a multimedia journalist based in New York City. She currently works for The Economist as a video editor. She is also a Contributing Editor for SmartPlanet, where she blogs about transportation issues.
Prior to her work at The Economist, she was an editor/associate producer for WNET/Thirteen, where she produced three hour-long documentaries for the station. Channtal has also worked as a freelance multimedia journalist in São Paulo, Brazil, where she filmed, wrote, and edited video and created multimedia stories for publication in news outlets around the world. She was a freelance producer for Al Jazeera English in São Paulo, and worked with organizations including The Wall Street Journal, Reuters, the Associated Press, and HBO Sports.
Before moving to Brazil to report, Channtal worked as an associate producer for Worldfocus, a nightly international news show distributed on PBS stations around the United States. She has a Master's degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where she specialized in digital media.
Channtal graduated with a B.A. in History from the University of Pennsylvania in 2004. Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, she has called many places home, including New York, N.Y., Boston, M.A., Bologna, Italy, and Durango, Colorado. Her travels and studies have brought her native fluency in English and Portuguese, fluency in Italian and French, conversational Spanish and a working knowledge of German. |
